Gypsum

Description

Gypsum is a soft sulfate mineral composed of calcium sulfate dehydrate, with the chemical formula CaSO4·2H2O.

Color: Colorless to white; may be yellow, tan, blue, pink, brown, reddish brown or gray due to impurities.

Mohs scale hardness 1.5–2

Luster Vitreous to silky, pearly, or waxy, Streak White

Specific gravity ( 2.31–2.33 ), Fusibility (5), Solubility Hot, dilute HCl
